The history of the Ragdoll Cat

The Radoll originated in the early 1960’s when a Persion cat breeder named Ann Baker of Riverside California USA, bred a semi-feral long haired white cat (that resembled an Angora) to cats she found or owned.

The cat named Josephine had litters fathered by Birman or Burmese type cats, one of which had the Siamese point coloration. Josephine later produced kittens with docile placid temperament, affectionate nature, and a tendency to go limp and relaxed when picked up. This created, what is now today known as the Ragdoll.
